Galantis. Brooklyn Mirage.

The Brooklyn Mirage is where the millennial city girls, Gen Z girlies, and the gays flock towards after 2am.

When I typically worked the live production side of concerts, I was added to email threads with call times (to know when I would need to show up at the venue) and set times (to know when each act was scheduled to perform). And if you didn’t know the set times, you can always ask another crew member if they knew about the set times. And if you’re attending as a fan, who doesn’t know anyone at the Brooklyn Mirage, you go on an intense, research-driven quest on Google and Instagram.

After a few moments (what felt like a few hours), we only found one potential, reliable source on Instagram: @mirageinvaders (alright, who did this?).

9pm: Doors

9:00-10;15pm: Local

10:15-11:45pm: Akki

11:45-1:15am: Aluna

1:15-1:30am Changeover

1:30-3:07am: GALANTIS (closing)

I’m not trying to sound like a grandma, but like, why did Galantis go on after 1:30am, when my bedtime is 10pm?

I mean I still enjoyed myself (a little too much), and I was blown away by the lighting design and stage presentation. And this show actually ended exactly according to the set time at 3:07am. To my surprise, one source had shared that they had recently been at the Mirage three days in a row: three shows on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. How would you respond to that? I’m not sure if I’m impressed by GALANTIS’s punctuality or scared that the Brooklyn Mirage developed a cult following of EDM enthusiasts who party until 3am or 6am. I’m not sure if I’m jealous of their lifestyle or if I envy their stamina.

Concert Rating: 8.7/10.
